The debate over whether there still exists a monoculture – a singular figure or moment that everybody across countries and backgrounds can point to – makes us question whether a figure like Michael Jackson would still have the same unifying impact today, or if we now exist in silos of micro-creators, each with 70k, who fall off once the next refresh pulls in a new replacement. 

If fragmentation defines the present, then the impulse to return to the tangible, the analog, emerges as a form of resistance. This return is part nostalgic; a seek to recover a lost authenticity – but it also reflects a desire to re-anchor experience in something that exceeds circulation. 

Through a three-part narrative we trace subjects from origin, to memory, to return. The series opens in a state of origin. Dancers guide us through the earliest stage of being; stripped down, raw, and in bare form. In Part II, form dissolves into fragments as timelines overlap. Think Dali's surrealism – old hats and vintage dresses take us through a nostalgic, dreamlike state. Finally, we return. Once the collective exhausts its cycles, we desire a return to our roots. To nature, to play.
